Experience and my education are both varied. The theoretical foundation includes Automotive Technology, business Administration and Engineering. On the other hand, my experience is concentrated mostly in the automotive repair field in a variety of capacities. A three-year stint also included working as an Engineering Technician, teacher, more specifically a Teach of Automotive Technicians.
Having studies and instructed Automotive Technicians has enabled me to gain insights which I document and put together for them in the form of work sheets that complement the diagnostic process. It consists of a series of logical steps made in any diagnosis with a constant reinforcement of basic skills.
I have accumulated a wealth of information, details, and experience on the instruction of automotive repair technicians as related to the aftermarket repair industry. I have tested methods that increase their competency, not only in class but in the field as well. My approach promotes that they have the basic tools and information.
Pete Meier has been in the automotive aftermarket for 50 years, starting as a service station attendant while in high school. He's earned ASE Master Automotive certification, has wrenched on just about everything that runs on gasoline, taught in both private and public vocational schools, trained technicians at regional and national events, and served as the technical editor for Motor Age magazine and later as the EBM Director of Digital Content. During his tenure at Motor Age, he led the publication into the Internet age and was the first to bring an industry trade publication to social media and created the Motor Age YouTube channel, now with over 116,000 subscribers. He was also the first in the industry, in partnership with TST, to host "live" training webinars in a shop atmosphere, making online training as close to a "hands-on" experience as possible. Today, he is the Training Manager (Social Content) for Dorman Products and is excited about the opportunity to bring even more resources to our industry's working men and women, to help them face the challenges of today's (and tomorrow's) technologies and to continue his personal quest to "advance the automotive service professional.
I am the owner and founder of Master Automotive Training, which I established in 2014 with the goal of improving the automotive industry by educating one technician at a time. I hold the title of ASE master technician with over 18 ASE certifications, and I also have additional certifications as a California smog check inspector, emission repair specialist, brake adjuster, and lamp adjuster. In addition, I am a California certified instructor, as well as an EPA-certified instructor and A/C technician. I am HDVIP/PSIP certified and have been working in the automotive industry since the age of 16. My passion for education and dedication to improving the industry make me a valuable asset to the field.
